The SANWA MMC Dust Shutter Adapter is the industry’s first VSFF (Very Small Form Factor) with built-in IP5X-certified dust shutters, ensuring superior protection against dust intrusion. MPO is increasingly being used for high-capacity optical communications, mainly in data centers. Currently, the most common number of fibers installed is 12 fibers in a single row and 24 fibers in a double row, but the MPO-16, which has been expanded to 16 fibers in a single row, is also beginning to be introduced.
With 12 fibers per row (MPO-12), 4 fibers are used for transmitting (TX), and 4 fibers are used for receiving (RX), with the middle 4 fibers not used, but with a single row of 16 fibers (MPO-16), TX: 8 fibers and RX: 8 fibers are realized, doubling the data transmission capability. MPO-16 has a different connector key position from MPO-12 to prevent incorrect insertion.
